Madhya Pradesh Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma today announced in the Assembly that fees in four government engineering colleges will be halved from this session. ''Presently, these colleges charge Rs 22,500,'' he said while replying to a discussion on an amendment bill for including Hospitality, Hotel Management and Catering Technology besides Travel and Tourism courses at the city-based Rajiv Gandhi Technical University (RGTU).
The Tourism Ministry decided to initiate three-year diploma courses in Hotel Management and Catering Technology at the polytechnic colleges in Gwalior and Indore besides Travel and Tourism at the Polytechnic College, Burhanpur and Women's Polytechnic College, Jabalpur. The Bill provides for affiliation of these courses with RGTU.
Five RGTU regional centres will be established in Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Sagar and Rewa as well as engineering colleges in Jhabua and Shahdol. Setting up an engineering college each in Bundelkhand Division and Chhindwara-Betul region is under consideration.
